Who this applies to
Use this guide if you are checking Germany B1+ before choosing an exam, paying a centre, or submitting a document. It does not decide eligibility, an exemption, or certificate acceptance for an individual case.
Key decisions
- Identify the authority or institution receiving your proof.
- Confirm the exact certificate, level, exam version, and document format it accepts.
- Verify local booking, ID, fee, result, cancellation, and timing details with official sources.
Detailed explanation
Verify the exam before scheduling study
Use this page only after confirming that Goethe-Zertifikat B1 is a possible proof for your route and checking the current exam information. Goethe’s B1 exam covers reading, listening, writing and speaking. Its official page and practice materials—not this schedule—define the exam product and current format.
The eight-week structure below is an editorial planning template. It is not a Goethe recommendation, a required duration or a promise that a learner will pass.
An adjustable eight-week template
- Weeks 1–2: sample each skill with official practice material and record repeated gaps.
- Weeks 3–4: concentrate on the two weakest skills while keeping short practice in the others.
- Weeks 5–6: practise complete task sequences under time limits you take from the current official materials.
- Weeks 7–8: rehearse the confirmed format, review the error log and leave time for rest and exam-day preparation.
If your work, health, care responsibilities or exam date change, adjust the sequence. Do not compress the plan to meet an unconfirmed application deadline.
How to adapt the template
Record the confirmed exam date, the available study sessions each week, the official material used and the result of each review. After each practice session, choose one error pattern to revisit instead of simply adding more hours.
Keep exam preparation separate from the application file. Practice readiness does not establish certificate acceptance, eligibility, an exemption or completion of other route conditions.
What to verify officially
| Item to verify | Who finally decides | Official source | Confirmed on this page | You still need to confirm |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Current route requirement and accepted proof | Goethe-Institut for exam format; competent receiving authority for proof acceptance | Authority source | The official entry and verification sequence recorded on 2026-07-19. | Your current individual route, exceptions, document format, and submission instructions. |
| Exam product and booking rules | Official exam owner and authorised local centre | Exam-owner source | The exam-owner entry used by this guide. | Current centre authorisation, dates, fees, ID, cancellation, results, and certificate delivery. |
Common mistakes
- Treating eight weeks as an official or sufficient preparation period.
- Mixing Goethe and telc materials without labelling the different product.
- Using unofficial tasks before checking current official practice materials.
- Letting an unconfirmed authority or centre date drive the schedule.
Next action
Put the confirmed exam and authority dates into the B1 evidence timeline. Return to the exam comparison or booking guide if the product or centre is not yet settled.
